Pros and cons of Civilization Revolution 2 app for iPhone and iPad
Civilization Revolution 2 app good for
When I bought it, I assumed it was at least equivalent to CIV IV. Its graphics are good, and I like the new units, buildings, and nations. However, I dislike that there are only four nations in one game for instance. The aforementioned pros are really the only thing that sets it apart from Civilizations Revolution I. As the latter costs $2.99 anyway, I dont think $6.99 is the right price.
Exactly what I would expect as a fan of the Civilizations brand
Ive been playing civ since it first came into existence and this is a great version. No problems on my ipad and a great use off time.
There are no workers, and the fighting favors the upgraded unit very heavily. Closer to a pc cig game than I would have thought though.
As a Civ fan I found this to be a very passable mini version. I found the controls simple, the graphics sharp, gameplay smooth. All in all I really enjoyed this. Best of all it is thus far just as replayable as the pc version. Hats off to the creators
Nice play, but crashes frequently at end of game on my iPad 2.
Some bad moments
The graphical update has done nothing but slow the game down. I could play an entire game in under two hours, now Ill barely be in mid-game. Unit controls are less intuitive, especially if units are stacked on top of each other. Civ Rev 1 is much better, but 2K seems to have dropped support for it (possibly for this as well).
The game had achievements that are locked due to an update error. The CPU only knows about you (only attacks you and "never met" other civilizations). CPU rarely upgrades (cpu sends chariots to fight my tanks... Constantly)....
If you want to laugh and be frustrated at the same time at the CPU, but this game.... Otherwise, play another....
I played the first version of this game extensively and loved it. This version is to combersome and not as easily played as the first version. I have tried to play this several times and just gave up. Too much was put into graphics but it think it failed overall. The colors are dull and boring. Can you just update the first version and let me go back to playing that? Thanks!
Im a huge fan of the civilization revolution games, but this version is pathetic. In a few days it is going to be an entire year since the last bug fix! Even longer since the last new content update, but the bugs are so bad no one cares about new content just fix the bugs!! For example no AI leaders will know anything about other leaders or interact with each other for the entire game!! Which throws out many strategies where you could put 2 civilizations against each other... And the special forces are completely useless, if you can research modern warfare you lose your ability to produce modern infantry (best defenders in the game (4 attack 8 defense)) inexchange for for special forces (which are complete assclowns costing 20 extra production and have 8 attack 4 defense). The tech modern warfare is a good way to lose a close game, but thats to say if you didnt get bored of all 4 AIs thinking your the only other leader in the game. There are many other bugs just read other peoples reviews of this update since its been out for a year and only 1 out of many have given it 5 stars. I wouldnt recommend buying it until they put out a bug fix even then at 7$ its still an abandoned game (was 15$ upon release which just goes to show its diminishing quality).
Have enjoyed Civ Revolution even with its flaws (terrible AI, diplomacy doesnt work similar to everyone elses remarks, etc). Would have thought that they would improve on the shortcomings, but all this adds is flashy graphics... And slower, more wonky game play. Wish I could return this game and get my money back.
This seems like a simplified version of the older PC Civs. You cant see your workers and the map feels real small. Its fun but I was expecting a lot more out of this.
