The world is too small!

I really hoped this new version would not be so "arcade" - a huge disappointment. The world is so, so tiny that many of the strategies (scientific, cultural, space) seem to be uninteresting when so scarce land leads to a militarization of everything. As someone who wants to play real civ on my iPad I must say I did not like the choice the developers made... Other aspects such as graphics, sound and even the touch-related gameplay are really, really good.
